Water Distribution General Information

Water Main Information

  • Water Distribution maintains 763 miles of water mains carrying an average of 75 million gallons per day (MGD).
  • Supplying water to a 65 square mile area of Montgomery County including Dayton, Kettering, Vandalia, Riverside, Trotwood, Brookville, the Dayton International Airport, and customers in Greene County.
  • The Division maintains over 4800 fire hydrants throughout the city.
  • Water Distribution repaired 77 water main breaks in 1998, at this time in 1999 49 breaks have been repaired.

  • Water meter leaking/removal/installation call 333-4905.
  • Questions about Water Distribution sidewalk restoration call 333-4909.
  • Water quality concerns call Water Supply and Treatment at 333-6030.
Ongoing and Future Construction Information
  • Water Distribution works daily in the streets of Dayton. Please excuse the inconvenience it may cause. It is important for the Division to be there making repairs or performing maintenance on the water system.
  • The Division is involved in an ongoing project in the area around the new Baseball Stadium. Traffic delays are possible on Monument Ave and/or East First Street between Webster Street and Patterson Boulevard.
  • Replace 24-inch mainline valve at Anderson Reservoir. No effect to traffic.
